India Mentor is a strategic project with the goal to reinforce Euro-India cooperation in Research and Development (R&D) in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector. India Mentor will facilitate the participation of Indian organisations in the ICT funding programme of the European Union through mentoring events and follow up services addressed to Indian IT research organisations and through capacity building for the Indian National Contact Point (NCP) Network whose mission is to promote permanently the cooperation between India and the EU in ICT R&D.
India Mentor is based on the success of the INCITE project that laid the foundation for effective uptake of EU projects by Indian organizations. INCITE also assisted in the establishment of the NCP in India.
India Mentor started in January 2007 and will run until December 2008 with the following objectives addressing two distinct but complementary target groups, namely the Indian ICT community and the Indian NCP network:
- To enhance the participation of Indian organisations in the ICT programme of the EU both in quantitative and qualitative terms
- To strengthen the NCP network in India and its cooperation with the European NCPs for a permanent and sustainable support to the participation of the Indian IT community in the EU ICT programmes
