FP7 Energy Work Programme
The FP7 Energy Theme continues its focus on the implementation of the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan)2, the technology pillar of the EU's Energy and Climate policy. The great majority of topics included are supporting the SET-Plan European Industrial Initiatives' (EII) Technology Roadmaps and Implementation Plans. The Roadmaps specify the research and demonstration needs for the next decade to accelerate the market up-take of the most promising technologies in the areas of solar, wind, bioenergy, smart grids, Carbon Capture and Storage and smart cities. They are thus to a large extent geared towards innovation. The focus on the implementation of the EIIs has resulted in a concentration of activities on objectives and priorities commonly agreed between industry, Member States and the European Commission.
