ICT CALLS: Step by Step

  • Identify your research theme 

The first step of responding to the EU ICT call begins with the self generation of a project idea, which needs to correspond with the EU Research Challenges/objectives in the Framework Programme (FP7).

  • Structure your Project Idea  

The Next step is to structure the project idea, for which the following steps will be useful.

  • Define a template with the key elements of the project idea
    • State of-the-art
    • Objectives of the project
    • Project phases
    • Cost estimation
  • Confront the Idea
    • Circulate the draft among the relevant company units for their feedback and suggestions
    • Self improvise upon the idea before receiving an outsider’s perspective.
    • It is important to remember that an idea channelised right stands the prospect of being transformed into an EU funded project.
  • Carry out a Feasibility Check on the Idea
    • Identify the right call and its specific objectives in which the idea would fit.
    • Identify the type of project
    • Calculate the resources available and required
    • List the essential type of partners required
    • Identify the Project officer or the service that  can answer specific questions.
    • Keep a watch on the deadline for the proposal submission .
    • Check with the National Contact Point in case of any queries relating to Pre screening form etc.
  • Covert the Project idea into a Proposal

    Ground work
    • Follow the project guide provided by the European Commission .
    • Centralize the reading of the project among the partners for evident coherence .
    • Finalize the Partners and their roles based on their competencies, by regular interactions and meetings. Draft a checklist with the distribution of roles and competencies etc.
    • Allocate the writing of the project sections on the basis of their competencies.
    •  Calculate / arrive at the work packages from the start as an international cooperation has a cost.
  • Draft the Project Proposal

    The Project Proposal follows a certain format that every organization needs to comply with.

    Part A of the Proposal
    A1 – Abstract, priority and coordinator
    A2 – Partner Detail forms
    A3 – Proposal Budget form

    Part B of the Proposal
    B1 – Objectives
    B2 – Matching with the Programme objectives
    B3 – Potential Impact
    B4 – Consortium Description and own resources
    B5  - Management
    B6 – Work Plan
